Brian started as a loan officer in 2004 — and was bad at it. The refi boom was on, his peers were closing files left and right, but the sales-driven side of mortgage origination didn't fit him.
A title company offered him a job as a processor. He thrived there. Process-oriented, detail-heavy work was where his head actually worked. One of that company's clients — a loan officer himself — eventually hired him away to be his personal loan processor. A few years later, they opened a title company together, with Brian as operations manager.
After five or six years there, Brian left and opened his own mortgage processing company. In two years, that operation processed over 1,500 files.
Eventually he came back to originating — but only when he could do it differently. By then he'd worked every seat at the table: title, processing, ops, ownership. He came back because he could finally communicate, not sell.
That's the angle Forward Mortgage clients get. Brian isn't trying to convert you — he's trying to make sure you understand what you're signing, and that the deal actually makes sense for your life, short, medium, and long term. If a mortgage doesn't make sense, he'll tell you. If it does, he can troubleshoot almost any part of the transaction without a hand-off, because he's been on the other side of nearly every desk involved.
He's also a Certified Divorce Lending Professional (CDLP). Forward Mortgage maintains a separate site, divorcemortgageplanner.com, built around that work.
Outside work, Brian is active in his church and serves regularly at Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac, Michigan, which provides Christ-centered recovery support for individuals rebuilding from homelessness and addiction.
